Basic math counts nearly six years since weвЂ™ve heard a full project from the вЂњOnly UвЂќ artist. Now if youвЂ™re a die-hard fan, a closet fan or even a hater of Ashanti, you already know her last studio album вЂњThe DeclarationвЂќ dropped in 2008. IвЂ™ll let her be great in her moment of glory as she celebrates the release of her new album. Nonetheless, Ashanti has finally delivered her long-awaited fifth studio album вЂњBraveheart.вЂќ Now while I could go on and on about how many times she postponed the album release date or why she doesnвЂ™t have a hit song on the radio now вЂ“ I wonвЂ™t. Yet, it has been a struggle to release her вЂњBraveheartвЂќ album without any strategic planning, a strong lead single and having a slight dose of irrelevancy. Like a ship without a sail, the last few years fans have watched her try to reach a level of success on her own as the CEO of her independent label, Written Entertainment. While her winning-streak was mainly fueled by the backing of Murder Inc, it all came to a stretching halt once she wasВ released from her long-time label home in 2009. However, R&B veteran Ashanti made it look easy with the release of her first three studio albums (вЂњAshanti,вЂќ вЂњChapter II,вЂќ and вЂњConcrete RoseвЂќ). She starts it off and finishes it brilliantly with a cliff hanger effect leaving the listener wanting more.Achieving back to back success in the music industry is hard to come by. With that aside, Ashanti even puts elements of Pop and Hip Hop in the album to increase the great experience of the album and it was enjoyable for me to listen to from beginning to end. IвЂ™m not saying this songs werenвЂ™t good, IвЂ™m just saying that after a few times through they didnвЂ™t speak to me as much as the others. While there were many highlights on the album there were a few songs that seemed to lack the steam to really stand out to me. Not to say that it isnвЂ™t a good song itвЂ™s just that it didnвЂ™t speak to me like other songs did i.e. During the album there actually are a few songs that stand out and seem to lack the steam that some other tunes had. ItвЂ™s the type of song you want to hear in a club or when youвЂ™re tidying your roomДЄnd now, the bad part. The song is bubbly and the lyrics are enticing making the listener feel like shacking a leg. Other artists such as Rihanna use this style of music and Ashanti does it brilliantly to end the album. I love the combination of reggae and island music that she challenges and accomplishes here. I had this song on repeat for a good 30 minutes when I first heard it. My favourite song on the album would have to be вЂFirst Real Love (Ft. It even shows as she has her own label and is releasing her own tunes.

But this album shows the hard work and effort Ashanti has put into music from the early years of 2000 up to now. No surprise with this because she does have talent though I feel as if she didnвЂ™t do as well in previous R&N attempts. Like I previously said, her vocals are actually amazing throughout the album and seem flawless compared to her previous record. The intro is also titled вЂњBraveheartвЂќ and actually shows what Ashanti aims to do with this album. Even the way it transitions from one part to another is just brilliant. The intro, her vocals and the mood she sets actually does so much to entertain the listener and immediately draw them in. I donвЂ™t want to sound biased in this blog post but like I said she has actually outdone herself with this album. The intro song to the album is actually the best intro Ashanti has done. It did very well and now she hits the streets with one of her best albums ever. Six years ago was the last time Ashanti released an R&B album which was named вЂThe VaultвЂ™ in 2008.

Honestly, though I am a big fan I heard about this album a bit late but as soon as I heard of its release I quickly had to make a ВЈ7.99 purchase.ДЄshanti seems confident in herself for she states that she is a вЂњbraveheartвЂќ and that itвЂ™s fine if people forgot about her and counted her about because she is ready to come back with a bang. On the 4 th March 2013 she released her fifth studio album which was actually released on her own label вЂWritten EntertainmentвЂ™.

SheвЂ™s back and to me seems better than ever. Though some may not expect it i am a very big fan of Ashanti the R&B musician and always have been.
